Experience

Dr Charlotte Morris is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist. She has over 20 years’ experience of working in adult community mental health and inpatient settings within the NHS.

Dr Morris has a particular interest in working with clients who experience difficulties in their relationships with others, as well as struggles with their relationship with themselves. This may impact on clients’ personal or professional relationships, as well as how they feel about themselves, leading to low self-worth, self-criticism, anxiety and low mood.

Dr Morris is experienced in working with clients who have had traumatic life events and upsetting experiences within relationships. Experiences of trauma may have resulted in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), dissociation or other distressing mental health problems.

At the heart of Dr Morris’ work is the development of a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship, where the client can explore their experiences in a non-judgemental space and think about what change looks like for them. Dr Morris is compassionate and kind in her approach whilst also encouraging clients to focus on the aspects of their lives that they want to change.

Dr Morris is accredited with ACAT (Association for Cognitive Analytic Therapy), as both a Cognitive Analytic Therapist (CAT) and supervisor. She is also trained in:

  • Eye Movement, Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

  • Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)

  • Mindfulness

  • Mentalisation Based Therapy (MBT)

  • Skills-based approaches such as Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Structured Clinical Management (SCM)

The approach used in therapy will be tailored to your needs and guided by the evidence base for the type of problem you are experiencing. When it’s helpful, different models of therapy can be integrated or blended to get the best outcome for you.

Alongside her work with Mollart CBT, Dr Morris continues to practice within the NHS as a Consultant in Community Mental Health for clients with complex mental health difficulties. She continues to see clients for therapy and supervise colleagues, whilst also leading a psychology service. Dr Morris is committed to improving mental health services and improving the lives of those who use them.

Between 2012 and 2021, Dr Morris published two papers on borderline personality disorder, two papers on self-harm and one paper on the accessibility of clinical psychology to black and minority ethnic clients
